YSRCP slams CBI over Jagan's case

Describing as unfortunate, High Court dismissing Ys Jagan Mohan Reddy’s bail petition, YSR Congress has slammed CBI for its unethical approach in dealing with the case as it has been changing tune from court to court and from time to time.

“CBI contending that State Government is not cooperative in completing the investigation speaks of its malafide intentions. It did not bring in this point on the earlier occasions and it seems that CBI has been functioning in a highly questionable manner,’ party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma told reporters here on Thursday.

The CBI did not broach the issue of non-cooperation of government when the bail process went through the CBI special court to the apex court. With the investigation agency toeing that line now, we are apprehensive that it wants to keep our leader away from the people for a longer period.

Eight months have passed since the arrest of Ys Jagan Mohan Reddy and 18 months have passed since it began the investigation, still the country’s premier investigation agency could not find proper evidence that could stand the legal scrutiny, she said.

Though CBI had assured the courts that it will complete the investigation process within three months, it could not complete the process nor could it gather evidence against Ys Jagan Mohan Reddy, she said.

“We have met the President and Prime Minister on the issue and brought to their notice the CBI style of functioning and the undemocratic arrest of our leader. If CBI could not make any headway in the case and openly say that Government is not cooperative, it means that the matter is being deliberately delayed and Ys Jagan Mohan Reddy need not be the victim for their failure,” she said.

The CBI intention is very clear. If government is not cooperating, whom the agency should pursue, she asked and called the CBI bluff saying that how could it frame charges based on the 26 GOs if government did not cooperate.

They could get many details on the land allotments and other issues relating to the 26 GOs but when it comes to the bail of Ys Jagan Mohan Reddy, it is ridiculous on part of CBI to say that the government was not cooperative.

When a case is booked under Prevention of Corruption Act, CBI needs to have evidence and enough material to prosecute a person but strangely in this case, our leader was arrested in an undemocratic way and is kept away from the people for nearly eight months without showing a proper case, she said.

We will take up the issue to the people and mobilise public opinion against CBI and its style of functioning and the vindictive attitude, she said.
