Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar on Wednesday accused Eluru MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao of damaging the Congress party in retaliation for denial of a berth in Union Cabinet.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress Legislature Party office, Ponnam slammed the Eluru MP for calling the Centre as inefficient. He said Kavuri has no identity of his own and he would be rejected by the people in the Eluru constituency once the Congress party's tag get removed from his image. He said Kavuri has been making statements against the government and party leadership since he was denied a berth in the Union Cabinet.
Ponnam also condemned Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajgopal for supporting Kavuri Sambasiva Rao. He said that he has lodged a complaint with PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana against Kavuri for criticising the party and the Centre.
The Karimnagar MP also ridiculed Minister Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy's statement wherein he described a minister’s post as a waste paper. He said if the post was a waste, then why he was continuing in the State Cabinet. He alleged that the minister was making such statements as his son has joined the YSR Congress party.
Ponnam also requested the political parties not to link MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi's remarks with the Telangana issue. He said that Telangana issue should not be linked with any religion.
