Akbaruddin Owaisi undergoes medical test

MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi underwent medical test at the Gandhi Hospital here on Tuesday.

The MIM leader came to the Gandhi Hospital for medical tests after he was served a notice by the Nirmal police to do the same. Since Akbaruddin did not appear before the Nirmal police on Monday in connection with a case registered against him for making alleged hate speeches citing ill-health, he was asked to undergo tests. Based on the doctors' advise, a decision on whether or not to arrest the MIM leader would be taken.

Earlier, a police team from Nirmal questioned Akbaruddin Owaisi for about half-an-hour at his Banjara Hills residence. Accompanied with hundreds of supporters, the MIM MLA went to Gandhi Hospital where he was examined by a team of government doctors. Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, MIM MLAs, leaders and large number of party workers also gathered at Akbar's residence.

Meanwhile, tension prevailed when hundreds of MIM workers who gathered outside the hospital shouted slogans against the police and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. They announced that they would prevent the police from arresting Akbaruddin Owaisi.
