Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Monday announced that the all-party meeting on Telangana issue will be held as scheduled on December 28.

Addressing a press conference here, Shinde said that the Centre would consider changing the date if all the political parties demand for it. However, he said as of now there were no plans to change the date. He also denied stating that there no need for holding all-party meeting. "I never said that there was no need for an all-party meeting. Since there was a demand for an all-party meeting, it has been called," he said.

Shinde further said that he would write to parties inviting them for the meeting. He also said that the parties could decide whether they want to send one or more than one representative for the meeting.

Earlier, Congress MPs from Telangana region including Ponnam Prabhakar, Dr Manda Jagannadham and Dr G Vivek called on Shinde in the Parliament premises requesting him not to postpone the all-party meeting.
