The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Saturday asked Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu to explain as to why it did not issue a whip to its MPs to vote against the Congress-led UPA Government over the FDI issue.
Talking to reporters here, TRS MLA T Harish Rao said that the abstention of three Rajya Sabha MPs from the voting has raised several questions about the TDP's policy towards the FDI issue. He said that the TDP chief should clarify whether his party has favoured the foreign companies, the UPA Government or was he planning to have some kind of tie-up between Heritage Foods and Walmart.
Harish Rao said that while Naidu speaks against the Congress party in public, he supports it secretly. He reminded that six TDP MPs supported the then Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao when a No Confidence Motion was moved against him. Similarly, he said three MPs including party's leader in Rajya Sabha T Devender Goud did not participate in the voting to favour the Congress party.
The TRS leader said Naidu should explain as to why a whip was not issued to the MPs making it mandatory for them to vote against the government.
