Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA T Harish Rao stated in the Legislative Assembly on Sunday that his party was secular since its inception and would remain so in future too.
Responding to MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi's suggestion to TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao for not joining the BJP-led NDA, the TRS MLA said that the TRS has always been a secular party. He said KCR was known for his secular credentials and the TRS too has remained secular since its inception.
Referring to the speech that he made in the Legislative Assembly on Saturday demanding Rs 5,000 crore budget for the minorities, Harish Rao said that Hindus should raised the issues of Muslims and vice-versa. However, he said that the TRS has a single point programme of achieving Telangana State and it would support anyone who supports the demand.
Earlier, Akbaruddin Owaisi said praised the TRS leader for raising the minorities’ issue. However, he said that while raising the Muslims in the House, the TRS should not join hands with Narendra Modi and the BJP, who he said were responsible for the demolition of Babri Masjid and massacre of Muslims. He was referring to a newspaper report that claimed that TRS was tilting towards the NDA.
