Giving clear indications that he might quit the Congress Party, former minister Komatireddy Ventatreddy on Monday threatened to resign from the MLA's post if the Centre fails to grant statehood for Telangana region.

Talking to reporters, Komatireddy said that the Centre should immediately announce a clear roadmap for the formation of Telangana. Threatening that he would resign from the membership of the Legislative Assembly, he said further delay in taking the decision on the statehood issue would lead to the collapse of the State Government.

Komatireddy also slammed Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao for pursing electoral politics that pressing for separate Telangana. He said that it was inappropriate on the part of KCR to speak about seats and votes without having clear focus on the statehood agitation.

Giving a hint that he might join the YSR Congress Party after his exit from the ruling party, the former minister said that people feel that Jagan's arrest was illegal and politically motivated.
