Pro-Telangana activists halt screening of Pawan's "Rambabu"

The sceening of Power Star Pawan Kalyan's latest film- "Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu" was cancelled in many theatres in the Nizam region, including Hyderabad, following protest by pro-Telangana activists on Friday.

Objecting to dialogues having comparison between "Telugu Talli" and "Telangana Talli" and a few other dialogues have reportedly angered the pro-Telangana groups who organised protests in many theatres. While screening of movie was stopped in Kakatiya Theatre of Warangal district, a few students of Osmania University set the film posters on fire at Aaradhna Theatre at Tarnaka. The reels of the movies were also snatched away from a theatres and set ablaze before the Arts Colleges. Similar protests were also held in cinema theatres in other districts of Telangana region.

The protestors are demanding that the controversial dialogues from the movie be deleted from the Puri Jaganath directed film starring Pawan Kalyan, Thamanna, Prakash Raj and others. The Telangana Advocates’ JAC has also filed a petition before the State Human Rights Commission demanding a ban on the movie.

Meanwhile, film director Puri Jaganath and others clarified that there was no intention to hurt the sentiments of the Telangana people. They also assured that the controversial dialogues would be deleted.

However, the movie has received a tremendous response at the Box Office in Andhra Pradesh and other parts of India and overseas. The film is expected to break the first day collection record of Pawan's blockbuster film Gabbar Singh. Based on the early trends, the films is expected to register collections of Rs 15-20 crore at the worldwide Box Office on the first day of its release.
