Lagadapati condemns Naidu's letter on Telangana

Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal on Thursday wrote an open letter slamming the Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu for writing a letter to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh seeking an all-party meeting to resolve the Telangana state issue.

Releasing the letter to media, Lagadapati Rajagopal said that TDP founder N T Rama Rao’s soul, who worked for unity and integrity of all Telugu people, would not rest in peace after Naidu’s letter favouring division of State. He alleged that Naidu wrote the letter to get political mileage on the Telangana statehood issue. He also said that Naidu might have written the letter bowing to pressure mounted on him by a section of leaders in the party from the region and to get approval for his padayatra on October 2.

Rajagopal asked Naidu to explain as to why he has written that letter and what benefits he seeks through that letter. He pointed out that Naidu did not know the pros and cons if the State was divided into three parts.

The Vijayawada MP said that the Seemandhra leaders would oppose Naidu’s padayatra in coastal Andhra Pradesh. Recalling that the TDP lost its deposits in the recent by-elections, he said that the TDP would be completely wiped out from coastal Andhra if it supports the bifurcation of State.
