Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana on Monday deferred the meeting of State Congress which was scheduled to be held on September 23.

However, the meeting, which was supposed to discuss threadbare the prevailing political situation in the State after it received a drubbing in the by-elections, has been postponed indefinitely  following pressure mounted by the Telangana leaders. According to sources, the leaders from Telangana region appealed to Congress High Command to convene a separate meeting for both Telangana and Seemandhra regions and wrote a letter to Congress in-charge of State affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad in this regard.

However, the PCC chief reportedly not agreed for this proposal. According to sources, the PCC chief stated that he would hold a separate regional meeting after the completion of State level Congress meeting.

Earlier, MPs Ponnam Prabhakar and G Vivek and former minister Komati Reddy Rajagopal had a meeting with the PCC chief over the issue at the Gandhi Bhavan. The MPs reportedly informed Botsa Satyanarayana that the meeting might witness some disputes if convened with the leaders from both regions.
