Congress is not against smaller States: KK

Former president of Pradesh Congress Committee K Keshava Rao on Wednesday claimed that the Congress party was not against the formation of smaller States.

Talking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan, Keshava Rao reminded that the Congress party had constituted a committee led by Pranab Mukherjee to study the demand for smaller states in the country and undertook a deep study into the subject. Referring to recent statement of Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, he said that the media has twisted his statement saying that naxalism would grow in smaller States. He said that the problem of naxalism was not related to the size of the State.

Keshava Rao said that the Telangana would be a reality. He said that the Centre has already initiated the process and it might announce decision soon.
