Rajya Sabha member and Congress senior leader V Hanumantha Rao on Saturday expressed concern over the culture of "opportunist politics" in the Congress party.
Inaugurating “Medho Madanam” at Jubilee Hall, Hanumantha Rao said that the party has suffered a huge damage and lost its image due to opportunistic leaders in the party. Though the party was in a pathetic condition in the State, he regretted that no one in the party was bothering to revive it or working to strengthen it from the grassroots level. He accused the ministers of allotting time to resort to anti-party activities instead of focusing their attention on strengthening the party.
Despite sincere workers quitting the party, he said that the Congress High Command did not focus on utilising their services and awarding them with suitable and nominated posts. He said that the Medho Madanam recommendations of "Save Congress, Strengthen Congress" would be presented to Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana and Chief Minister N KIran Kumar Reddy seeking action on it.
Hanumantha Rao clarified that he did not organize the “Medho Madanam” programme to seek any position in the party or government, but to strengthen the party in the State.
