Coming down heavily on the Telugu Desam Party members for staging dharna at Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s office at the Secretariat over the power issue, Information Technology Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Tuesday asked the people’s representatives to adopt democratic methods in observing protests over the public issues.

Talking to media persons at his residence, Ponnala Lakshmaiah said that political values were degrading due to TDP’s undemocratic method of staging protests and it was politicising every issue to get mileage. He said that the people’s representatives have to adopt meaningful ways in taking problems to the notice of government. Asking the TDP to self-introspect its ways of agitation, he recalled how the TDP responded on the power issue during its regime when the 92 Congress MLAs staged dharna against the increase in power tariff.

Stating that the government was taking all measures to meet the energy crisis, he called upon all parties in the State to cooperate with the government and help in tackling the power crisis by giving constructive suggestions. He reiterated that the government would not compromise on supplying seven hour of power to farmers at any cost.
