Backward Classes Welfare Association president R Krishnaiah on Friday demanded that the Congress High Command consider appointing a BC candidate for the Chief Minister’s post in the event of change of guard in the State.
Talking to media persons, Krishnaiah said that no one from the BC community has been made the Chief Minister of the State so far. He said that he would make all efforts to see that a candidate from the BC community is elevated to the post. He said that the upliftment of BCs would be possible by giving large representation to them politically.
Stating that all political parties were coming forward to give 100 seats for BCs in the next Assembly elections, he asked the parties to reserve at least 150 seats for the BCs. Suspecting the commitment of some parties over the BC declaration, he said that most of them used BCs as vote banks during the elections and cheated them without taking any welfare activities for their upliftment.
