The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Tuesday demanded that the State Government immediately cancel the tenders of Polavaram project.
Talking to media persons in the State Legislative Assembly premises, TRS floor leader Etala Rajender recalled that the cases pertaining to the cancellation of the tenders have already filed in the Supreme Court by Governments of Chattisgarh, Odisha and the TRS leaders as well. He questioned the government as to how it could call the tenders while the case pertaining to it was already pending in the court.
Rajender alleged that the State Government has awarded the tender to “Soma” company, owned by a Telugu Desam Party leader, with an intention to loot the public money with the nexus.
Claiming that earlier the project cost was Rs 4,100 crore, he said that the State Government has recently increased the amount up to Rs 500 crore. He founnd fault with the government’s decision to call the tenders even after strong objections to it.
