Vijaya Shanti criticises Vijayamma's proposed deeksha

Telangana Rashtra Samithi Medak MP M Vijaya Shanthi on Saturday came down heavily on the proposed Maha Deeskha of YSR Congress honorary president Y S Vijayalakshmi for the cause of weavers on July 23 at Sircilla in Karimnagar district.

Talking to media persons at the TRS Bhavan, Vijaya Shanthi asked Vijayamma as to why she has not taken up Deeksha on the prevailing problems in the Rayalaseema region. She accused Vijayamma of staging Maha Deeksha to get mileage on weavers issue in the region. She alleged that around 250 weavers committed suicide during YSR’s regime between 2004 and 2009 and attributed the reason to the policies and programmes of the YSR government.

Stating that she has no objection for staging Deeksha, the Medak MP demanded Vijayamma to first make her party stand clear on the Telangana statehood issue.

Alleging that YSRCP has no commitment on the Telangana statehood issue, she said that there was no objection for the TRS if Vijayamma makes her party's stand clear on the demand for separate Telangana. She said that the TRS would allow those Seemandhra leaders' deeksha only after they make their stand clear on Telangana State.
