Vijayamma exhorts cadre to gear for local bodies elections

Ysr Congress Party honorary president Y S Vijayamma on Friday exhorted the party rank and file to gear up for the elections to be held for local bodies anytime.

Addressing the massive meeting of Ysr Congress Party workers at its office in Lotus Pond, Vijayamma said the elections for the local bodies could be held anytime and they should be ready for the same. She called the upon party workers to work hard and strengthen the party at the ground level until its party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy comes out clean from allegations leveled by the CBI.

Stating that she never aspired to become the party president, she said that she had accepted the responsibility of party president under certain conditions. She asked the party cadre to take the government for the task on the people’s problems. Unable to tackle Jagan politically, she alleged that government has arrested him as he continued his fight for people’s problems.

Accusing the CBI of misleading the courts and acting partially, she asked the agency to explain the mistake committed by YSR family. However, she said she had full confidence on the courts and laws and hoped that Jaganmohan Reddy would come out clean from the "baseless charges" of CBI.

Vijayamma said that she had complained about the biased functioning of CBI towards Jaganmohan Reddy to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh during her visit to New Delhi. She claimed that the Prime Minister has assured to look into the complaint personally. She said that she has submitted memorandums to the Prime Minister and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar over the farmers’ woes and sought assistance from the Centre. She said that both of them responded positively and assured to take steps to address the power supply, subsidised seeds and fertilisers and other issues.

Responding to supporting the Presidential nominee, she said that the party has authorised Jaganmohan Reddy to take a decision in this regard and a unanimous resolution was also passed in the meeting.

Later, Vijayamma also released a special poster in connection with the birth anniversary of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to be celebrated on July 8. The meeting was attended by MPs, MLAs, MLCs and other functionaries.
