Naidu should come clean of FEMA violations: YSRC

Reiterating that the Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu should come clean from his money laundering and foreign bank accounts allegations, YSR Congress on Wednesday took strong objection to the Congress Government keeping mum over such serious financial violations by the leader of Opposition.

“Instead of denying or challenging allegations that he has some15 accounts in foreign banks under various names, Naidu resorted to questioning the credentials of the person who levelled them and also the section of the media that has published them,” party spokesperson Gattu Ramachandra Rao told reporters here.

Chandrababu Naidu started to question the integrity and character of Kola Krishna Mohan instead of giving a blow by blow account or denial of the allegations on his foreign bank accounts and money laundering. The Tdp leader had taken more than 10 days to react on the bank accounts issue, time enough to erase or manipulate the evidence, he said.

“The allegations were not levelled by Tdp’s political opponent but by Kola Krishnamohan, who was a Tdp member, his estranged associate and an aspirant to Lok Sabha on a Tdp ticket. There is every need for Chandrababu Naidu to tell the truth about the 15 foreign bank account numbers released by Kola Krishnamohan,” he said.

Naidu has agreed that he returned Rs 10 lakh cheque in a Vijayawada court but that was just the beginning as Kola contends that he has given Rs one crore cash to Naidu at his residence and transferred Rs 4 crores to his Singapore bank account.

“There was no denial on part of Naidu about his bank account in Singapore or other places named by Kola. In the fresh revelation Kola had given 11 names and the foreign bank accounts to which Naidu said that some of the persons do not exist. That exactly is the point as the persons are all fictitious names opened by Naidu himself,” Gattu said.

The Congress government has been a mute spectator to such violations of FEMA and Money Laundering Acts with the sole reason that it needs Tdp’s support to survive the full term, he said.

The section of media that is heavily slanted towards Tdp has been found wanting in terms of objectivity as it has published and beamed Chandrababu Naidu’s version without taking into account the allegations that were levelled the previous day.

“It is high time that Chandrababu Naidu comes forward and volunteer a probe by the Enforcement Directorate and get a clean chit in the FEMA and PMLA violations. Though the Opposition leaders says that 23 cases were foisted against him and 86 inquiries were ordered involving him, not in a single case did he get a clean chit,” Gattu said.

“We have already written this matter to ED and will pursue the matter further,” Gattu said and expressed concern over the CPI and Lok Satta Party not even ready to comment on the issue.

“Leaders of the two parties have been advocating that they have been the championing the cause of anti-corruption,” he said.
