Minor Irrigation Minister T G Venkatesh on Tuesday stated that the Telangana issue has reached a flash point.
Talking to media persons, Venkatesh said that the Centre has to take a decision on the Telangana State with all parties except the Congress party favouring the formation of separate State. “The time has come for the Centre to take a final decision on the statehood issue,” he said and added that no one could obstruct the formation of Telangana. He said that the Congress has power to announce a decision on Telangana State.
Venkatesh said that he has no rivalry with the leaders of Telangana from Congress, TRS and Telugu Desam Party as all are working towards achieving the separate statehood according to their party agenda. Stating that he was fighting for protecting the rights of Rayalaseema region, he said all people of the regions should live a respectable life in Andhra, Rayalaseema and Telangana.
The minister said that he came to New Delhi to highlight the problems of Rayalaseema people with the High Command.
Before the announcement of Telangana state, Venkatesh said that the High Command has to consider the interests of backward region of Rayalaseema.
