Former Congress minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Friday condemned the remarks of Telangana leaders that they would oppose the campaign of YSR Congress party honorary president Y S Vijayamma in the Parakala Assembly constituency.
Talking to media persons outside the Congress Legislature Party office, Dr Shankar Rao stated that the constitution of India has provided freedom for everyone to campaign in by-elections and no one could violate their rights. However, he appealed to YSR Congress Party to announce their stand on Telangana statehood demand.
Describing YSR Congress party president Jagan Mohan Reddy as an 'undertrial' and not a convict in the disproportionate assets case, he said that the Congress party would suffer a huge damage if the party did not stop targeting him. He expressed confidence that Jagan Mohan Reddy would rejoin the Congress party anytime. He said that Jagan Mohan Reddy has bright future in politics, if he gets a clean chit from the courts.
