Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson N Tulasi Reddy on Tuesday denied the allegations that Congress party was resorting to political vendetta against the YSR Congress party leaders.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Tulasi Reddy said that the Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy and others in August last year on the directions of Andhra Pradesh High Court. However, he said if Congress party was inclined towards taking political revenge, then Jaganmohan Reddy would have been arrested immediately. Since the Congress party has no control over the CBI, no action was taken against him.
Further, he said as many 16 Congress MLAs were disqualified for switching loyalties to YSR Congress. But none of them were framed under any charges. Similarly, the Congress party did no harm to Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy. He said the YSR Congress party leaders have been leveling baseless allegations against the ruling party to get mileage in the by-elections.
Tulasi Reddy reiterated that the Congress party was not connected with the CBI probe which was ordered by the High Court. He advised YSR Congress party honorary president Vijayamma to speak the truth and restrain from making baseless allegations.
The PCC spokesperson hoped that the people would reject the baseless theories of Vijayamma and the Congress party would all the 18 assembly and one Lok Sabha seats in the by-elections.
