Rajya Sabha member K Chiranjeevi on Friday stated that Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkataramana has become scapegoat for the 'unilateral' decisions taken by former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s Cabinet.
Talking to media persons at Visakhapatnam airport on his way to Narasannapeta in Srikakulam district to participate in the by-elections campaign, Chiranjeevi expressed regrets over Mopidevi's arrest and termed it as 'unfortunate.' He expressed confidence that Mopidevi would come out clean from all the allegations. He said that the CBI should verify Mopidevi's signatures on the controversial GOs to ascertain whether they were done under coercion by YSR.
Stating that there was no need for the Congress to conspire with the Telugu Desam to arrest Jagan, he alleged that Jagan wants to get mileage in the by-elections by using his arrest and create law and order problem. He said that the YSR Congress leaders have already issued threatening calls stating that the State would boil if the CBI arrests Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Chiranjeevi said that the Ministers and IAS officials were now languishing in jails due to the greed of Jagan Mohan Reddy. He called upon voters to teach a fitting lesson to corrupt leaders in the State in the ensuing by-elections.
