Vivekananda Reddy resigns from Congress

In a major setback to the ruling Congress party, former minister and ex-MLC Y S Vivekananda Reddy on Wednesday announced his resignation for the Congress party's primary membership in protest against the targeting of his brother and former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

Talking to media persons, Vivekananda Reddy said that he was resigning from the Congress as the party has failed to rebut allegations against his late brother YSR, who brought the party to power twice. “There is no need for me to continue in Congress if Rajasekhara Reddy was called a thief,” he said.

Vivekananda alleged that the Congress party was purposely trying to bring down the name and fame of YSR. Unable to digest the criticism against YSR, he said that he has resigned from the Congress. Responding to his future plans, he said that he would announce his future course of action after discussing the same with his supporters and constituency leaders.

Earlier, Vivekananda has convened a meeting with his supporters and discussed about joining the YSR Congress party.
