Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao on Monday called upon the Congress leaders to boycott the Sakshi newspaper and TV channel as it has been carrying 'malicious campaign' against Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan after participating in the 21st death anniversary function of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, he said that Jagan Mohan Reddy has been publishing the Sakshi newspaper with an aim to damage the State Government and the image of the ruling party among the people. Though former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy launched the newspaper to support the Congress schemes and programmes, Jagan has reversed its priority after his father’s death and started tirade against the government and the Congress with an eye on power, he said.
Accusing Jagan Mohan Reddy of misusing the media to protect his selfish interests and to shield himself from the CBI investigation and arrest, he, however, said that no one was above law and the law would take its own course.
Meanwhile, in protest against the Sakshi newspaper's stories against the ruling party, Congress MLC Farooq Hussain burnt the copies of Sakshi newspaper in front of Gandhi Bhavan. He called upon party rank and file in the districts to boycott the newspaper and channel.
