Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said that the seizure of Sakshi accounts by the CBI in connection with illegal assets case of Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, was not a violation of freedom of press.

Addressing an election campaign in Guntur district, Naidu said that Jagan, who built media empire with his black money, could not claim recluse under press freedom.  Accusing Jagan Mohan Reddy of taking shelter under the freedom of press to get immunity from criminal proceedings, he asked whether Bhanu Kiran, who allegedly murdered factionist Maddelacheruvu Suri, claim immunity after floating a newspaper.

Contending that the probing agency seized the accounts of Sakshi as part of investigation, Naidu said that the issue was not connected with freedom of press. He reminded Jagan that the CBI seized accounts of Kalaignar TV of DMK in connection with involvement in the 2G Spectrum scam.

Reiterating that the TDP was fighting against corruption of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy and his family members since a long time, Naidu said that the situation would not have come to such a level if the Congress party would have responded at an appropriate time.

Naidu said that the YSR government had given away all government land to private sector in name of Special Economic Zones and had even targeted the land of the poor farmers.

The TDP president said that the TDP was all poised to win majority of seats in the ensuing by-elections. As part of giving prominence to Kapu community, Naidu said that the TDP has earmarked two MLA and one MLC seat in Guntur for the community.
