Former minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Wednesday demanded CBI probe into alleged links of Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy’s son Karthika Reddy with Bhanu Kiran, the prime accused in the murder of factionist Maddelacheruvu Suri.
Talking to media persons at Congress Legislature Party Office, Dr Shankar Rao said that he was seeking CBI probe as the state probing agency Crime Investigation Department might not give a correct report due to the involvement of Home Minister. He suspected the involvement of Karthika Reddy’s hand in settlement of land deals by Bhanu Kiran in various cases. If the government orders CBI probe, he said that all facts, including the persons behind those land dealings, would come to light.
Dr Shankar Rao also demanded that the government suspend those Ministers who received notices from the Supreme Court in connection with issue of controversial GOs favouring Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in accumulating wealth illegally. He said that the victory chances of Congress party would be doubled if the government axes those corrupt ministers.
The former minister said that the party would benefit in ensuing by-elections if the government acts sternly against the anti-social elements. He said that he would campaign in the by-elections if the Congress High Command asks him to do so.
