Vayalar Ravi submits report to Sonia Gandhi on AP's situation

Union Minister and Congress emissary Vayalar Ravi on Saturday submitted his report to Congress president Sonia Gandhi on the latest political situation in Andhra Pradesh based on his observations and interactions that he had with different Congress leaders during his four-day visit to Hyderabad.

In the meeting which lasted for about 15 minutes, Vayalar Ravi reportedly briefed Sonia Gandhi on the latest political situation and stressed upon the importance of reorganising the party in the State to effectively tackle the opposition Telugu Desam Party and YSR Congress in the ensuing by-elections.

After the meeting with Sonia Gandhi, Ravi told reporters that he had appealed to Sonia Gandhi to take steps to energise the party rank and file before the by-elections. He said that the party cadre in the state was 'inactive' due to internal differences and lack of coordination among leaders. If the party cadre gets activated and energised, he expressed confidence that the Congress would win all the 18 Assembly constituencies in the ensuing by-elections.

In his report, Ravi reportedly stated that the Telangana sentiment was strong in the region and recommended the High Command to take a decision on the issue soon. Apart from this, he also briefed Sonia Gandhi over the danger posed from the YSR Congress party in the Seemandhra region. 

Vayalar Ravi, in his report, also listed out the complaints he received from senior Congress leaders against Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s style of functioning and his unilateral decisions. Ravi's report also had a mention of Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana locking horns with the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and promoting groupism in the Congress.
