TRS floor leader Etala Rajender on Wednesday condemned the state government for not permitting discussion on suicides for the Telangana cause in the House.

Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, he alleged that the ruling Congress and opposition Telugu Desam have conspired to ensure that the discussion do not take place in the House. Though Speaker Nadendla Manohar promised to discuss Telangana issue and suicides considering its seriousness, the government and main opposition TDP were not ready for the same and forced the Speaker to adjourn the House for Thursday, he alleged.

Etala also condemned the Speaker for not mentioning the students committed suicides for the Telangana in his condolence motion. He came down heavily on Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for attributing the students’ suicides in the region to love failure, scoring of low marks and economic problems in the family. He accused Kiran Kumar Reddy of insulting the Telangana people by making such derogatory comments.

The TRS leader also took serious objection over Union Home Minister P Chidambaram's statement that stakeholders should come up with a clear stand on Telangana statehood issue. He said that these type of statements from a responsible leader would increase the seriousness of issue and complicate it further.

Etala advised the State Government to make concrete efforts to resolving the Telangana issue on priority basis by introducing a resolution and taking up a discussion on it in the House and prevent further suicides in the region.
