Talking to media persons after his election, Narayana said that the party's executive committee would take a decision on February 29 on whether or not to contest the by-elections in the State.

Responding to Roads and Buildings Minister Dharmana Prasad Rao accepting his challenge on misuse of examination centre for his son’s wedding reception, Narayana said that the Minister wants to escape from the charges by raising technical points. However, he said that he would prove his charge with evidence and was ready for a public debate at anytime and anywhere as per the wish of Minister.

Narayana also announced that the CPI would extend its support to the trade unions' call for nation-wide bandh on February 28. He said the CPI would also launch a campaign and a bike rally across the state from Feb 25-27 in support of the bandh call.
