The Telugu Desam Party has criticised Governor ESL Narasimhan for 'just reading out' the text provided to him by the Congress Government in the State in his address to the joint session of legislative assembly and council on Monday.
Talking to reporters at the Telugu Desam Legislature Party office, Naidu said that the Governor's speech lacked clarity on all issues. "No concrete plans for the development of State were mentioned in the speech and there was no clarity on mobilisation of resource to execute the on-going schemes," he said.
The Tdp chief said that the State has gone back by almost two decades in terms of development and improper approach towards issues were driving away the investors to other States. He said that although Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy speaks about getting national status to Polavaram and Pranahiti Chevella projects, but both the projects were given a miss in the Governor's address.
Naidu said that the Governor's speech also lacked mention of relief measures being taken to address the problems being faced by the farmers in the drought hit areas. Further, he alleged that the law and order situation in the State was in a bad shape. However, the government was tyring to project a rosy picture using stale statistics, he said.
The Opposition Leader also slammed Speaker Nadendla Manohar for imposing restrictions on media in the assembly premises. He alleged that the Speaker was trying to suppress the fourth estate, by imposing unprecedented restrictions on their movement.
Earlier, Naidu along with Tdp MLAs came to the assembly by walk from the NTR Marg after paying homage to Tdp founder NTR Rama Rao.
Later, talking to media, Naidu alleged that the State was witnessing corruption and scams of high magnitude and nature. He also criticised the Speaker for including only two Tdp members in the recently constituted House Committee on land allotments. He said although the Tdp has 85 MLAs in the House, but the Speaker has tried to downsize its importance by nominating only two members in the committee.
Naidu also demanded action against Prohibition and Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana who has been accused of taking Rs 10 lakh bribe from the liquor syndicate.
