Bharatiya Janata Party floor leader G Kishan Reddy condemned Governor ESL Narasimhan's address to the joint session of legislative assembly and council on the inaugural day of budget session on Monday for lack of mention on Telangana.
Talking to reporters after the Governor's address, Kishan Reddy said that his party has boycotted the speech as he has deliberately avoided the mention of Telangana. He said the Congress party has promised to give statehood for Telangana in 2004 and against in 2009, Home Minister P Chidambaram made clear announcement that separate State would be carved out. However, he said the ruling party has been delaying a decision on Telangana, on one pretext or the other.
Accusing the Congress party of playing with the sentiments of people of Telangana, the BJP leader said that the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in the State was the right time to announce a decision on the statehood issue. Further, he said that the Governor's speech lacks clarity on several issues and therefore, it was not of any significant importance.
