The CBI special court, on Friday rejected the escort bail petition filed by former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy, who is one of the accused in the illegal mining case.
When the escort bail petition of Gali Janardhan Reddy came up before the court, the CBI counsel raised strong objection stating that Reddy might tamper with the evidence by influencing the witnesses if he was granted bail at this crucial phase of investigation.
Agreeing to the views of CBI counsel, the court rejected the Gali Janardhan Reddy’s escort bail petition.
Earlier, Reddy’s counsel moved the petition pleading with the court for a two- day escort bail to attend a religious ceremony in connection with the death anniversary of his mother at Bellary district in Karnataka on December 31 and January 1.
In his petition, the counsel stated that Gali Janardhan Reddy would offer prayers at the Old Age Home and Rehabilitation Centre for the Mentally Retarded.
