Shankar Rao to approach SC Commission against attack

Handlooms and Textiles Minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Monday presented a list of 18 people, whom he think, carried out the attack on his convoy at NTR Nagar last week.

Talking to reporters at his chambers at the State Secretariat, Dr Rao said that the police was trying to hush-up the case. He said those arrested last week were not at all connected with the case and police deliberately arrested wrong people. He announced that he would approach the Scheduled Caste Commission seeking justice.

The minister said that he would also seek the intervention of State Human Rights Commission for an independent probe into the attack against him. Besides, he would also write to Governor ESL Narasimhan, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, DGP V Dinesh Reddy and Cyberabad Police Commissioner in this regard.

Dr Shankar Rao hoped that the Chief Minister would do justice and take action against those involved in the attack. He said he would take up the matter to the Congress High Command, if Kiran Kumar Reddy fails to react on the issue.

Although the Minister was seated on his chair while starting the press conference, he sat on the floor after noticing that there were insufficient chairs in his chambers in the Secretariat.
