Former minister Jc Diwakar Reddy on Monday stated that no government would survive even for 10 days if it practices moral-based politics.
Talking to reporters at the Congress Legislature Party Office, Diwakar Reddy expressed concern over the loss of moral values in politics. He was referring to the cases being filed against the government in different courts by the opposition leaders on various allegations of corruption. Without naming the Congress or other parties, he said that the practice of giving resignation on the allegations of corruption has become obsolete these days.
The former minister said that the politics during the tenure of Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy was moral based wherein the ministers used to resign on the allegations of irregularities. If the same moral-based politics is practised now, no party will be able to run the government even for 10 days, he said.
Diwakar Reddy also criticised the role being played by the media in reporting political allegations. Reacting on reports published by some newspapers about the involvement of former chief minister K Rosaiah in the Power Purchase Agreements based on the allegations levelled by some TDP leaders, he said that the media should have cross-checked the facts before publishing such reports.
He advised media to do un-biased reporting, instead of merely publishing the allegations levelled by other politicians against each other.
