The Telugu Desam Party on Sunday alleged that Pulivendula MLA YS Vijayamma has misled the Andhra Pradesh High Court with regard to the Power Purchase Agreements in the State.
Addressing a press conference at NTR Trust Bhavan, TDP MLA D Narendra said that Vijayamma has given wrong information to the court in her petition filed seeking probe into the alleged assets of TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu. He said that the two MoUs for with the GVK and another GVK-Spectrum consortium were signed by the State Government in February 1992 during the tenure of N Jandardhan Reddy as the Chief Minister. He said other Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) too were signed during Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy's regime.
Stating that the PPAs were signed while K Rosaiah was holding the Energy and Finance portfolio in both Kotla and Nedurumalli's regime, Narendra said that the Congress party was involved in irregularities in those PPAs. Instead, he said the TDP Government reviewed the PPA and reduced the cost in both the agreements. He said the government was able to save Rs 144 crore due to the revised cost whereas, the Congress government gave a concession of Rs 444 crore.
Narendra asked as to why Vijayamma did not name Rosaiah, Vijayabhaskar Reddy or Janardhan Reddy's names in her petition. He announced that the party would brief the court about the real facts of these PPAs in their counter. He said the TDP would also seek action against Vijayamma for misleading the High Court.
