Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Friday raised suspicion on the police version of death of top Maoist leader M Koteswara Rao alias Kishanji in an encounter with the police in West Midnapur in West Bengal on Thursday.

Talking to reporters here, Kodandaram demanded that an independent probe should be ordered into the encounter to ascertain the veracity of police claims. He also appealed to the government to take steps for shifting his body to Kishanji's native place.

Regarding Telangana issue, Kodandaram said that the TP-JAC would intensify the statehood agitation. He said a meeting would be convened on November 27 to discuss the future course of action. He warned that the agitation would be more serious from December 1.

Kodandaram also demanded that the State Legislative Assembly pass a resolution for the formation of Telangana state during the winter session starting from December 1.
