Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Daggubati Purandeswari on Monday claimed that the Centre was not considering the constitution of second States Reorganisations Commission.
Talking to media persons after participating in a Children's Day programme, Purandeswari described the media reports on formation of second SRC as speculative and far from truth. She said that there was no truth in the media reports that the Centre was mulling to set up SRC in the wake of demand for smaller states arising in some parts of the country.
The Union Minister said that the government would take a clear decision on creation of Telangana soon to put an end to political uncertainty in the state. Stating that the government was reviewing the latest stock of situation in the region, she said the government was taking all measures to find a permanent solution to statehood issue.
Responding to Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh and All India Congress Committee official spokesman Rashid Alvi's statements that the Congress would opt for second SRC before taking any decision on creation of smaller states, Purandeswari said that in democracy, people have freedom to express their opinion. She said the opinions expressed by Digvijay Singh and Rashid Alvi were their personal views and they should not be attributed to the Congress party.
Purandreshwari said that the Congress high command would take serious action against those who violate the party code and discipline and issue statements that could damage the party's reputation. The party would be strong if the workers follow discipline and take government schemes and programmes to the doorsteps of people, she pointed out.
