T decision after Eid-ul-Adha: Chidambaram

Home Minister P Chidambaram on Monday hinted that the Centre might announce its decision on the Telangana statehood issue after Eid-ul-Adha.

Addressing a press conference, Chidambaram said that the Centre some decision on the Telangana issue could be expected soon. However, the Home Minister was very careful in using the words. "I expect that some decision or movement towards the decision will take place immediately after Eid." He informed that Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has told different groups in the State to wait for some more time in view of Deepavali and Eid festivals.

The Home Minister apparently tried to avoid the mention of Telangana during his press conference, However, when reporters raised the issue, he handled the topic very cautiously. Instead of directly saying 'decision on Telangana' he said 'some movement towards the decision' could be seen after Eid which falls on November 7.

Sources say that the Congress High Command will announce its decision on the Telangana statehood issue anytime after November 10.
