No threat to KKR Govt, claims Botsa

Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana claimed that there was no threat to Kiran Kumar Reddy Government after three Congress MLAs quit the party to join the TRS.

Talking to reporters after participating in the 27th death anniversary event of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at Gandhi Bhavan here on Monday, Botsa said that the resignation of any member would cause damage to a political party. However, he maintained that the resignation of Jupally Krishna Rao, S Satynarayana and T Rajaiah would not affect the ruling party.

Botsa revealed that he has tried to convince the MLAs on staying with the Congress party. However, they decided to quit 'purely due to personal reasons'. He said if Telangana was the major reason, then all MLAs and MPs from the region would have left the Congress party.

The Pcc President reiterated that the High Command would soon take a decision on the Telangana statehood issue. He requested the leaders from the region to act with restrain.

Replying to a query on whether he proposes to take action against the MLAs who have joined the YSR Congress party, the Pcc President answered in negative. He said those MLAs have informed him about their decision just by sending SMS and didn't even discussed the issue with him. He said no action was required to be taken against those who simply walk out of the party.

Meanwhile, former Pcc President D Srinivas said that the MLAs decision to quit Congress to join the TRS was a hasty decision. He said that the Congress High Command and the Centre were about to take a decision on the issue and leaving the party at this juncture was a politically incorrect decision.

Health Minister DL Ravindra Reddy also maintained the same stand and claimed that there was no threat to Kiran Kumar Reddy Government. He said the party will prove its majority on the floor of House, if required.
