Boycott AP Formation Day celebrations: Ponnam

Congress Mp Ponnam Prabhakar on Friday called upon Telangana leaders to observe November 1, the State Formation Day as `Betrayal Day’ across the Telangana region.

Talking to media persons after attending a court case in Karimnagar district, Ponnam called upon people to boycott the Formation Day celebrations and observe Black Day in the region. Hailing the Telangana Ministers' decision of not participating in the Formation Day celebrations, he said that any person, who hails from Telangana should not participate in the November 1 celebrations.

“All sections of people, including teachers, employees and students should boycott the celebrations by organizing rallies and staging dharnas” Ponnam said. He said the participation of leaders would send wrong message among the Telangana people.

The Karimnagar MP said that he would also boycott the Racha Banda programme being held by the State Government from November 2. However, he said he was not against if other MPs and MLAs participate in the programme.
