Congress MP Rayapati Sambhasiva Rao on Thursday alleged the leaders of Telangana region have hatched a conspiracy to dethrone the Kiran Kumar Reddy government for the bifurcation of State.
Addressing a gathering of Seemandhra leaders, who formed human chain as part of five day call given by Seemandhra Joint Action Committee, at Mother Theresa Centre, Rayapati alleged that the Telangana leaders have conspired to destabilize the government for the sake of Telangana statehood. However, he did not elaborate on what the actual conspiracy was and who hatched it.
The Congress MP alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party supporting the Telangana statehood agitation with an eye on garnering vote banks in the region. By extending support to the Telangana Bill in the Parliament, he said that the BJP wants to increase its strength in the region. However, the people of Seemandhra region would foil BJP's attempts and the party would bite the dust in this part of the State, he said. "It may win one or two seats in Telangana region, but it would get a `zero’ in the Seemandhra region,” he pointed out.
Suspecting the commitment of BJP senior leader L K Advani towards the Telangana state, he asked why the BJP has opposed formation of Telangana during National Democratic Alliance Government tenure.
Rayapati said that unlike Telangana activists, who resorted to bandhs and Rail Rokos causing lot of inconvenience to people, Seemandhra leaders should agitate peacefully for the integrated state. He expressed confidence that the Centre would take a favourable decision by keeping the State united.
Stating that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has been consulting leaders from all three regions in the State, the MP said that a consensus would soon arrive on keeping the state united.
