Eight Congress MPs from the Telangana region on Wednesday met the Lok Sabha Meira Kumar to press for acceptance of the resignations that they have submitted demanding separate Telangana.
However, the MPs refused to divulge details of what transpired in the meeting. "I heard you and seized of the matter," that's what the Speaker has reportedly told the Congress MPs as conveyed to the media by Nizamabad MP Madhu Yashki Goud. Similarly, Rajya Sabha MP and Telangana Congress Steering Committee convenor K Keshava Rao refused to elaborate stating that, "we don't want to mix up those things."
Besides Madhu Yashki, other Congress MPs Ponnam Prabhakar, G Vivek, K Rajagopal Reddy, G Sukhender Reddy, Manda Jagannatham, S Rajaiah and Balram Naik met the Speaker.
Other MPs too did not disclose details of their meeting with the Speaker. However, they made general statements about the Telangana agitation.
Talking to reporters Karimanagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar appealed to the Congress workers to make three-day Rail Roko agitation starting from October 15 a success. He expressed sympathy with the employees who are participating in the general strike in the region. He also advised the State Government not to use coercive methods to suppress the agitation.
Earlier, the Telangana Congress MPs have announced that they would participate in the Rail Roko agiations on October 15, 16 and 17. While Madhu Yaskhi will participate in the agitation in Nizambad, Manda Jagannatham in Gadwal, Rajagopala Reddy in Bhuvanagari, Vivek in Ramagundem, Suresh Shetkar in Zaheerabad, Sukhender Reddy in Nalgonda, Ponnam Prabhakar in Jammikonta, Balram Naik in Mahboobabad and S Rajaiah will participate in Rail Roko agitation in Warangal.
