Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation managing director Prasada Rao on Friday stated that corporation has suffered a loss of nearly Rs 140 Crore due to the employees’ participation in the general strike of Telangana agitation.
Talking to media persons, Prasada Rao appealed to all employees to withdraw the strike considering the future of debt ridden corporation and people’s interests. “If the employees continue their agitation, the losses would continue to mount," he said.
Stating that the government was proposing to privatise the corporation due to losses, he asked the employees to join their duties immediately to avoid privatization.
Earlier, the managing director said that the festival advance and salaries would be given to the employees who withdraw from ongoing strike.
The RTC employees strike entered 15th day on Friday disrupting the transport sector in 10 districts of Telangana region. Nearly 10,000 buses in the region are off roads and about 60,000 employees supporting the agitation. Nearly 85 lakh commuters travel daily on an average in the RTC buses.
