In-charge of Congress affairs in Andhra Pradesh and Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad will be visiting Hyderabad on Sunday.
Sources say that Azad is likely to hold discussions with the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana and other leaders from Telangana and Rayalaseema region. However, the Congress party is trying to project Azad's visit as a low-profile event. Presently, Botsa is in New Delhi and he will be returning to the State capital by Sunday afternoon to hold discussions with Azad.
According to a senior Congress leader, Azad's has already played his part in the Telangana issue. "He has already submitted his report on Telangana to Congress president Sonia Gandhi and the same has been discussed by the Congress Core Committee. Therefore, Azad's visit is not so relevant now," he said.
However, the Congress leaders from the Telangana region say that Azad would still play a crucial role till the Congress party and the UPA Government announces its decision on Telangana. A few leaders are also planning to hold protests and submit their resignations from the party during Azad's visit. In view of the volatile situation and fearing trouble, Azad's itinerary is being kept under wraps.
