Raising a major controversy that also exposed the rift between the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and his cabinet colleagues, Health Minister Dr DL Ravindra Reddy on Thursday objected to the grant of 108 services to EMRI-Gvk.
Talking to media persons, Dr Reddy demanded that the State Government call fresh tenders to run the 108 services effectively. He said the government has signed the agreement about two days ago with the Gvk in his absence. He said the EMRI-Gvk services were below standard and the poor people were not getting the required facilities. He pointed out that the 108 facilities have not reached the poor in almost 13 districts in the State and in nine other districts their services were below average.
The Health Minister expressed his agony over the contract given to Gvk. He said that the Gvk took undue advantage of the contract sanctioned to them in the absence of an official tender, which was overlooked by the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy earlier. He demanded that a fresh tender be called for the 108 services and the process be completed in a transparent manner.
