The Telugu Desam Party on Saturday demanded an enquiry into the affairs of Brahmani Steels.
Talking to media at NTR Trust Bhavan, TDP floor leader in legislative council D Veerabhadra Rao said several irregularities have taken place in the Brahmani Steels. Besides resorting to several violations, the company's management have also taken loans from the banks while keeping the administration in the dark. Demanding a thorough probe, Veerabhadra Rao wrote a letter to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asking him to ask the CBI to extend its probe to irregularities in Brahmani Steels.
However, the TDP leader suspected that the Chief Minister himself could be involved in the Brahmani Steels scam. He said irregularities at such a large scale could not happen without the involvement or knowledge of the top brass. Therefore, the Chief Minister must first clear his stand and then ask the CBI to focus its probe in Brahmani Steels irregularities.
Veerabhandra Rao also criticised the Chief Minister for non-constitution of a House Committee to probe the irregularities in the allotment of land on Hyderabad's outskirts. He said despite giving an assurance on the floor of the House, the Chief Minister did not honour his words. He demanded that the proposed House Committee be constituted without further delay.
