The Cbi Special Court on Thursday adjourned the hearing on custody and bail petitions of former Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy and managing director of Obulapuram Mining Corporation (OMC) B V Srinivas Reddy, to Friday.
The hearing was adjourned following the court’s boycott call given by Bar Council of India to protest against the bomb blast at Delhi High Court on Wednesday, which claimed 11 lives and injured 91 others.
Following the Bar Council's call, the lawyers in the Nampally Criminal court including the Cbi Special Court boycotted their duties. Gali Janardhan Reddy’s senior counsels did not turn up for the hearing. The junior advocates requested the court to defer the hearing for Saturday or Monday. However, the CBI’s counsel objected stating that the case was of very serious nature. After hearing both the sides, the Cbi Special Court posted the hearing on both custody and bail petitions on Friday.
CBI Joint Director Laxminarayana, Superintendent of Police Venkatesh and Additional Superintendent of Police Khan attended the court.
Earlier, Janardhan Reddy’s counsel pleaded in the bail application that his client would cooperate with the CBI in its investigation. He also offered to surrender his passport and promised to stay in his Hyderabad’s bungalow under the surveillance of CBI.
