Expressing disappointment and resentment over the appointment of Narsapur MP Kanumuri Bapiraju to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam’s Specified Authority chairman’s post, Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao on Friday said that he would take up the matter with the Congress High Command.
Talking to reporters, Sambasiva Rao claimed that he was assured by Sonia Gandhi herself that he would be given the TTD post to serve Lord Venkatshwara in Tirupati. However, his candidature was completely ignored. Alleging that senior leaders were getting a raw deal in the nominated posts, he said he would soon convene a meeting with his constituency people to decide the future course of action.
The Guntur MP said neglecting loyal and dedicated workers would cost dearly for the Congress party. However, he clarified that he had nothing personal against Kanumuri Bapiraju, appointment as he was also senior most leader.
Responding to a question regarding Chiranjeevi joining Congress, he said the party has gained strengthened with his entry.
