Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday stated that the Telangana agitation was not against Seemandhra people.
Addressing the gathering at the one-day deeksha organised by the National Students Union of India to pay tributes to those who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Telangana statehood at Alwal, Mr Prabhakar said that the Telangana leaders have never asked Seemandhra leaders and people to quit Telangana at any time. The MP’s words implied that he was apparently unaware of Telangana Jagruthi president K Kavitha warning Seemandhra employees and leaders earlier in the day to either support the separate Telangana statehood agitation of ‘Quit Telangana.’ Mr Prabhakar assured the Seemandhra people that Telangana leaders would protect their properties and work places. The MP also called upon those Seemandhra people, who have settled in Telangana region to express solidarity to the separate statehood demand and participate in agitation in large numbers. The Karimnagar MP further appealed to Telangana leaders to prevail upon Seemandhra people to support the agitation for separate state. Mr Prabhakar called upon NSUI members to work with commitment towards achieving Telangana statehood. Rajya Sabha Member K Kesava Rao also participated in the programme and paid rich tributes to those who laid down their lives for the cause of separate Telangana state.
