Stating that the people have lost confidence in the government and it might collapse at any time, Telangana Political Joint Action Committee convenor M Kodandaram on Tuesday said that even the Ministers are keeping away from all official functions and Cabinet meetings.
Prof Kodandaram was addressing the gathering at a blood donation camp at the Mint Compound organized by the Telangana Electricity Employees Joint Action Committee to express solidarity with the proposed general strike of employees from August 17. Expressing confidence that the formation of Telangana is ‘definite,’ Prof Kodandaram said that the government will collapse at any time since it has lost the confidence of the people. The TPJAC chief told the gathering that the employees already have moral support even before their strike had been launched, in the form of Ministers from Telangana who are abstaining from Cabinet meeting and are not participating in any official programmes. “The Ministers from Telangana are already boycotting work. In addition to this, the strike of the employees will fully paralyse administration in the state. Telangana is definite,” he said. He expressed confidence the Ministers would also boycott the Independence Day celebrations on August 15. With government in a precarious state due to employees strike, he said it needs a major surgery in the form of separation. Pointing out that the people and political parties are divided on the bifurcation issue, Prof Kodandaram said only the Parliament can pass the Bill on Telangana statehood and create a separate state.
